GUITARMANIA 3 ROCKS PHOENIX FOR CHARITY WITH CUSTOM PAINTED FENDER STRATOCASTER GUITARS
Featuring rare original artwork by noted international artist Ralph Steadman

PHOENIX, Ariz. (Mar. 4, 2009) - In the spirit of rock 'n' roll and giving, custom-decorated Fender Stratocaster guitars will be auctioned during the GuitarMania 3 fundraiser at Casino Arizona on Monday, Mar. 23.  The third auction of its kind will open with flair, highlighted by both a silent and live auction, and finished with an amazing concert by the Little Big Band along with special guests.

A total of 12 stunning original guitars were created by such figures as Anthony Kiedis of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. The project also features an extremely rare original piece by British cartoonist and caricaturist, Ralph Steadman. Steadman has illustrated such classics as Alice in Wonderland, Treasure Island and Animal Farm. His own books include Sigmund Freud, I, Leonardo and The Big I Am. With American writer Hunter S. Thompson, he collaborated in the birth of GONZO journalism, the definitive book in the genre being Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, which was made into a feature film starring Johnny Depp.

The Fender Stratocaster guitars were specially-designed and built in Fender's Ensenada, Mexico facility. Each instrument is a fully-playable electric guitar, but has several unique design enhancements that provide fine artists with a larger and simpler "palette" to work with.  Some of these enhancements include an unfinished body, allowing the artist's work to bond better with the body, and a pickguard-less body with fewer tone controls to create more "real estate" for the artists to express themselves on.

GuitarMania 3 is presented by Casino Arizona, and is a Greater Phoenix public art project developed by Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Arizona and Fender Musical Instruments Corporation of Scottsdale, Ariz.
