Savers donations for future generations: donate gently used items to help mentor youth in the Valley

As the holidays approach, many people clean in preparation for guests and festivities. This makes way for the ultimate re-gift. As you clean out your home, why not donate all those unused items? Give the gift that keeps on giving!

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Arizona (BBBSAZ) is partnered with Savers thrift stores across the Valley. BBBSAZ aims to collect lightly used clothing, shoes, blankets, bedding and towels to benefit new owners in need.  The items are then made available at a discounted price at multiple Valley Savers locations. All of the proceeds from these donated items benefit BBBSAZ by covering operating expenses to fund “matches.”

Donations will help divert millions of pounds of goods from landfills annually by selling them in their stores, or recycling them, all while benefiting youth mentorship.

When you donate your goods at Savers thrift stores, you are supporting the Big Brothers Big Sisters mentoring programs and ensuring a bright future for children.

This month, BBBSAZ is trying to meet a goal of 90,0000 pounds of donated household fabric goods. Savers and BBBSAZ has made it easy to donate your unwanted items through scheduled pickups (a delivery truck will come to your home and take the unwanted items off your hands) or various drop off locations (drive up and drop off) throughout the Valley.

1.    To schedule a pickup from your home, visit http://www.donateaz.org/.

2.    To select a location that partners with BBBSAZ, visit any of the following links.

This ongoing partnership with Savers thrift stores and BBBSAZ allows everyone to be a winner. So, when you find yourself cleaning out closets, drawers and cupboards, think of BBBSAZ and use one of the above ways to turn your gently used items into positive outcomes for children.
