Currently, there are over 200 kids waiting to be matched to a mentor. Big Brothers Big Sisters works hard to facilitate as many matches as possible, but unfortunately, there is still a deficit of volunteer mentors. Consequently, kids end up on our waiting list. Our “Big for a Day” events help us to engage children who are waiting for a mentor.
These events are made possible by businesses across the Valley who sponsor an experience for our waiting Littles. Most recently, KPMG answered the call and took 25 of our waitlist kids to Main Event in Tempe!
Both kids and volunteers enjoyed bowling, pizza, and time in the arcade. Everyone had a great time getting to know one another, laughing together, and experiencing what our program truly represents – creating positive relationships between mentors and mentees. Additionally, our families were so grateful for the experience and to the volunteers for creating a sense of belonging for their children while they wait for a future Big.
To each of the KPMG volunteers who generously gave of your time, resources, and attention to invest in the future and development of our Littles, thank you! Your support has been a lifeline, keeping our Littles and their families connected to BBBSAZ, community resources, and empowering resilience. You have proven that we are Bigger Together!

Volunteers will be matched with kids on our waitlist, ages 8-15, for a day of fun! They will see how it feels to be a “Big for a Day” by spending quality time with a child waiting to find the right mentor for them and learning about other volunteer opportunities with Big Brothers Big Sisters. It’s a great way to give back in a meaningful way while having a ton of fun with your co-workers.
