Our mission here at BBBSAZ is to, “Create and support one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth.” Today we’d like to share with you the motivational stories of two different Bigs and their Littles.
Anthony’s mother enrolled him into the BBBS program because she wanted him to have a positive male influence in his life. Anthony’s mother also wanted him to have a mentor with whom he could have a meaningful friendship with. Roy knew about the BBBS program, and he became a Big Brother because he wanted to do more for the community. Little Brother Anthony and Big Brother Roy were matched in March 2022. Whether it’s drones or robots, the pair enjoys spending time with robotics-related activities. Anthony and Roy also like to bowl and take photos; the two have gotten to know one another better since being matched and continue to grow their friendship. Anthony and Roy also work together to find fun activities that promote mental wellness and physical wellness.
Andon’s mother enrolled him into the BBBS program because she wanted him to have a positive male role model. Andon’s mother also wanted him to have a mentor with whom he could build a healthy friendship with. Gabriel became a Big Brother because he wanted to give back to the community by being a mentor for youth. In February 2017, Little Brother Andon and Big Brother Gabriel were matched. The pair enjoys participating in sports-related activities, like playing soccer and going to community football games. Little Brother Andon and Big Brother Gabriel also enjoy talking about their shared interests, which include sports, books, and school. The two always look forward to their next match outing together, and they share a common goal of discovering fun local community events.
