Now brewing- endless possibilities with our new partnership- Starbucks

Since May 2024, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Arizona has been proud to partner with a local Starbucks in promoting career readiness and exploration for our Littles. So far, we’ve celebrated the graduation of two classes, and with the continued support of Starbucks store manager Tatum, we are excited to offer Barista Basics training every quarter!

The experience kicks off with a classic coffee tasting, where Littles discover the rich flavors and intricacies of a great cup of coffee. From there, we dive into the exclusive work benefits Starbucks offers, providing valuable insights into the perks and opportunities they should consider for their future careers. No Barista Basics class would be complete without the chance to craft their own signature Starbucks Refresher—a fan-favorite activity among the Littles!

Each session wraps up with a Q&A about the hiring process and job application tips. Our Littles will soon have the opportunity to participate in mock interviews with hiring managers, gaining invaluable experience in a supportive environment. This will not only help them refine their interview skills but also give them a taste of real-world hiring practices.

While the Barista Basics classes are a fun and valuable experience, this is just the beginning of our collaboration with Starbucks. As this partnership continues to grow, we are eager to explore additional pathways for our Littles. Future opportunities may include additional trainings and potential job placements within the Starbucks network, allowing participants to gain hands-on experience in a professional setting.

We envision expanding our program to include workshops focused on resume building, networking strategies, and even mentorship from Starbucks employees. As we forge ahead, we can’t wait to see the exciting opportunities that lie ahead for our Littles and our program, empowering them to aim higher in their professional journeys and unlock their full potential.
