BBBS Success Stories

Big Brothers Big Sisters is the country’s largest evidence-based mentoring organization. Our vision here at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Arizona is for all youth to achieve their full potential. Today we’re sharing with you the success stories of our Bigs and their Littles.

Michael’s mother enrolled him in the BBBS program to gain a positive role model. She also wanted Michael to have a mentor who would introduce him to new activities out in the community. In January 2015, Little Brother Michael and Big Brother Juan were matched. Over the years, Juan and Michael have done so many different things togethering on their match outings. The pair enjoys going to sporting events, fishing, swimming, hiking, and going to skate parks. Juan has supported Michael by helping him with his academics over the years and has also taught Michael some life skills; Juan has been a consistent and positive influence. Michael and Juan have truly created a wonderful friendship throughout the years.

In February 2021, Little Brother Joshua and Big Brother Nicholas were matched. Having Nicholas as a Big Brother has provided Joshua with a healthy and positive mentor. The pair always look forward to seeing each other for their match outings. Joshua and Nicholas enjoy trying new and fun activities that are engaging. In Nicholas, Joshua has a friend with whom he can confide in and get positive advice from. Nicholas being there for Joshua has had such a positive impact on Joshua’s life. Since being matched Joshua and Nicholas have created a strong friendship.
