The holiday season is always a special time at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Arizona, but this year, it was extra magical thanks to our incredible Adopt-a-Family Program! Behind the scenes, our committee of six (plus some unofficial committee members)—some seasoned veterans and some fresh faces—worked tirelessly to organize this monumental effort. Let’s just say spreadsheets were our best friends for a few months!
And the results? Simply heartwarming.
26 Generous Donors, 34 Families Adopted
This year, 26 generous donors stepped up to make the holidays brighter for families in need, with some adopting multiple families! Our donors came from all walks of life—board members, BBBS staff, dedicated Bigs, corporate sponsors, and even local families who wanted to give back.
We also received large toy donations from several businesses, helping us spread the joy even further. We are proud to say that every single one of the 34 nominated families was adopted.
A Snapshot of Holiday Giving
The families we served were as diverse as our community itself, spanning from El Mirage to Casa Grande and ranging in size from 2 to 7 members. And yes, even pets got in on the action! Families’ wish lists included everything from warm clothes and household essentials to special toys and treats for their furry friends.
The Impact of Community
It was truly inspiring to see our community come together. Donors didn’t just give gifts—they gave hope. For many families, this program was the difference between a holiday filled with stress and a season filled with love and laughter. Let’s just say here were a lot of happy tears by all that were involved!
