On Friday, April 9th over 250 community members were able to come together in person at the Big Night Out in celebration of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Arizona. Guests were able to safely enjoy their evening on the Sonoran Terrace at the JW Marriott Camelback Inn in Scottsdale and were treated to a cocktail reception, seated dinner, and moving program with stories highlighting the value of mentorship for Arizona’s youth.
This event was Co-Chaired by Andrew &Amy Walters and Chris & Kimberly Guimarin. Amy called the event “a labor of love,” having served as a Big Sister herself to Little Sister Liana who was also able to attend the event.
Themed as “The Big Night Out In the Wild,” guests were encouraged to dress in black, white, gold, with a hint of animal print and were able to take selfies with snakes and other reptiles from the Arizona Herpetological Society. Other event highlights included the online auction featuring everything from local hotspot memberships, to relaxing staycation packages, and a stunning string of freshwater pearls.
Like many other events this year, the Big Night Out was modified to ensure the comfort and safety of all guests and was live-streamed for supporters who preferred to join from home. A recording of the event is now available for viewing below:
The Big Night Out is an important fundraiser for BBBSAZ, providing critical funding for the agency which serves over 1,500 youth each year. This year’s Presenting Sponsor, Leslie’s Pool Supplies has been a long-time supporter of BBBSAZ and other nonprofits throughout The Valley. The Big Night Out event raised over $225,000 for BBBSAZ’s mentoring programs and was a much-needed celebration of what an amazing community of support surrounds this mission.
