On Saturday, July 22nd BBBSAZ was privileged to host 30 families for a fun-filled Back to School event.
This event benefitted Littles (mentees) in our program and their families. Each of the 65 youth in attendance received a brand new backpack stuffed with school supplies including paper, notebooks, pencils, crayons, scissors, and folders to give them a head start this school year. Families also received many pairs of socks donated by Bombas and Soles4Souls, and every Little received a brand new pair of shoes donated by Vans and Soles4Souls. We are so thankful for the opportunity to give some of our Littles and their families a jump start into the 2023-2024 school year!
During the event, families were treated to breakfast, and there were several additional giveaways and activities to benefit the students. There were amazing raffle prizes, including brand-new bicycles, televisions, laptops, Diamondbacks tickets, and gift cards. Lots of lucky kids got to go home with these great new prizes! All of the attendees had the opportunity to create their own pencil case or water bottle, participate in a STEM activity, and do a coloring activity that was donated by Free2Luv. Mulan and Snow White from Off The Page AZ read stories to the kids, helped with activities, and did photo opportunities. An amazing time was had by all!
At the conclusion of the event, each family was given a goodie bag that included hygiene supplies, Great Clips gift cards donated by board member Cheryl Hyman and also made possible by a grant from the Nina Mason Pulliam Foundation, barber shop gift cards donated by The Local Barber and Shop, and gift cards to purchase additional school supplies. Check out some of the photos from the event below. Thank you so much to all of our kind and generous supporters who made this event a possibility!
